About The Solihull Journal

Who we are

The Solihull Journal is an independent local news publication serving the borough of Solihull. We are not part of a national chain and we are not beholden to any political party, advertiser or special interest. Our job is to report on the borough fairly, accurately and without fear or favour.

We cover the issues that shape daily life in Solihull — from council decisions and local politics to business, sport and the views of our readers. We believe strong local journalism is a public good, and we exist to hold power to account while giving a voice to the communities we serve.

Our mission

Our mission is to be Solihull’s most trusted source of independent local news. We aim to inform, scrutinise and reflect the borough, and to do so with rigour, fairness and independence.

What we cover

We organise our reporting across five core areas:

• News — the day’s most important stories from across the borough.
• Politics — council meetings, elections, policing and local democracy.
• Business — the local economy, employers, regeneration and town centres.
• Sport — Solihull Moors, grassroots clubs and borough athletes.
• Opinion — considered commentary and reader submissions (see the Opinion section for how to contribute).
