Corrections & Editorial Standards
Our commitment to accurate, fair and independent journalism — and how we put things right when we get them wrong.
Editorial standards
The Solihull Journal is committed to accuracy, fairness and independence in everything we publish. We report verified information, distinguish clearly between fact and comment, and treat the people we report on with respect.
We are independent of any political party, advertiser or external interest. Editorial decisions are made by our editorial team alone, and commercial activity never influences our news coverage.
When we use sources, we identify them wherever possible and protect their identities only where there is a credible reason to do so. We correct errors promptly and transparently.
How to flag an error
If you believe we have published something that is inaccurate, please let us know. The clearest way is through our Contact Us form — choose Correction as the subject and include:
- the headline or link to the article in question;
- the specific statement you believe is wrong;
- the correct information and, where possible, a reliable source.
You can also email the newsroom directly at newsdesk@solihulljournal.com.
How we handle corrections
We review every correction request promptly. When we confirm a material error, we amend the article as quickly as possible and make the change clear to readers.
A correction is noted at the bottom of the amended article, including:
- a short description of what was changed;
- the reason for the change; and
- a timestamp showing when the correction was made.
For minor fixes, such as a spelling or formatting error that does not change the meaning of a story, we may simply update the text without a published note. Significant factual errors always carry a visible correction note.
Complaints
If you wish to make a complaint about our journalism, contact us through the Contact Us form with details of the article, the publication date and the outcome you are seeking. Complaints are reviewed separately from correction requests and acknowledged within five working days.
